Progress photos are among your most intimate data: months of body archive, shot in underwear, at your most vulnerable. Where that archive lives matters as much as how it was shot.
The price of automatic cloud backup
On most phones, every frame in the gallery is auto-uploaded to the cloud — from where it can leak into family sharing, synced devices and accidentally opened albums. For body photos, the default gallery is the riskiest place: you don't control the answer to 'who can see this?'
An archive that stays on-device
The right approach is progress frames never touching the gallery: stored in the app's own space, on the device only. That's how PROGRESS works — frames never leave your phone, aren't tied to an account, aren't sent to a server. They stay until you delete them, and nobody sees them unless you share them.
Clean before you share
If you decide to share a before/after: strip the location (EXIF) data, make sure no identifying details (addresses, mail, documents) appear in the background, and share an exported copy, not the original. Sharing can't be undone — don't send unless you're sure.

What happens to my photos when I switch phones?
With on-device storage, migration is in your hands: use the export/backup feature and move the archive to the new device. That deliberate step is the price of giving up automatic cloud convenience.
Do I need an app lock?
If others use your phone, yes — a system-level app lock or locked folder adds another layer to your privacy.
If I delete photos, can they come back?
With on-device storage, deleted means deleted; there is no cloud copy. That's the other face of privacy: taking your own occasional backup against accidental deletion is on you.
Is it safe to share my photos with a trainer or dietitian?
Instead of giving access to your whole gallery, export just the photo you want to share, strip the location data yourself, and send that copy. Sharing with a trusted professional isn't risky by itself — what's risky is granting broad access you can't control who else might see.
