How often should you take progress photos?
Short answer: weekly, for most people. Body change is too slow to notice day to day, and monthly loses the rhythm; a weekly frame is the balance that makes change visible and keeps motivation alive.
Why not daily?
In daily photos, change hides under noise: water retention, meal timing and sleep explain most of the difference between frames. Hunting for change in the mirror every day is exhausting and demoralizing. If you enjoy shooting daily, fine — but do your comparisons on the weekly frames.
The right weekly routine
Same day of the week, same time, same conditions: the most common pick is weekend morning before breakfast. That also pins down the food-and-water variable. Set a recurring reminder — the enemy of the routine is forgetting, not reluctance.
Slow down over time
For the first 3–6 months, weekly is ideal. Once you reach your goal and shift to maintenance, every two weeks or monthly is enough. What matters is never fully stopping: even 12 consistent frames a year tell a story no scale ever could.
Frequently asked questions
What time of day is best?
Morning, after the bathroom, before eating — that's your body's most 'zeroed' state and the easiest one to repeat.
I missed a week — is the series ruined?
No. One gap doesn't affect long-range comparisons; continue where you left off. A sustained series beats a perfect one.
After how many weeks will I see a difference?
It varies with person and pace, but most people see the first clear difference comparing 4–8 weeks apart. Not seeing change between adjacent weeks is normal — that's why you should also always compare against your very first frame.
How do I keep up my photo routine while traveling?
Find a plain wall or curtain in the hotel room, prop the phone against a suitcase or chair, and use the timer; "close enough" framing beats no photo at all. Skipping a travel week won't break the series, but skipping the photo entirely leaves a gap — a roughly matched frame is still better than nothing.
Line it up with PROGRESS. A ghost of your previous photo appears on screen, so every new shot lines up perfectly. Your photos never leave your device.
